As we celebrated the miracle of Christ’s birth last month, the Pets with Heart family was also unexpectedly and joyfully welcoming an adorable, furry new life. After her beloved therapy dog, Luca, crossed the rainbow bridge around Thanksgiving, Sister Pat Montini hoped to adopt a golden retriever puppy in March 2021 to continue her pet therapy outreach.
The breeder contacted Sister Pat just before Christmas about a female puppy that someone was unable to adopt because, sadly, they had contracted COVID-19. Sister Pat immediately embraced this Christmas miracle and named her Zoey, which means “life” in Greek.
We look forward to chronicling Zoey’s journey to becoming a certified therapy dog. Together with Sister Sandy Yost and her dog, Rabbie, and Sister Sharon Costello and her dog, Buster, the Pets with Heart family will continue Luca’s legacy of bringing comfort and joy to our neighbors.
