Book Nook Gift Shop
The Book Nook gift shop is located near the main entrance to the Motherhouse. The shop features religious items and a variety of goods handcrafted by our Sisters, employees and friends. Visitors are welcome to browse our selection of cards, books, CDs, soaps and more.
Handmade Gifts
Honey and honey-filled candy from our beehives is available in a several sizes. Sister Lyn Szymkiewicz makes all-natural soap, moisturizing cream and lip balm using the beeswax from our apiary.
We have greeting cards for every occasion, featuring photography by Sister Gerrie Grandpre. The 2017 Desk Calendar also features her photography paired with inconvenient truth quotations. This year’s calendar invites us to “Live in the spirit of awareness.” Calendars are $8 plus tax and shipping. Order online.
Handwritten story bowls crafted by Sister Sue Clay are the perfect way to share a family recipe, beloved poem or you own special story. Mini bowls are $5, 6″ bowls are $25 and 9″ bowls are $50. Email Sister Sue or call her at 412-480-9586 to order a story bowl.
CDs and DVDs
We also sell our classic holiday album, In A Manger Lowly. Originally recorded in 1961, it features the voices of more than 100 Sisters of St. Joseph. For 2016, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the song with the release of a commemorative CD. It includes a special insert that features “The Story of the Song.” CDs are $15 plus tax and shipping. Order online.
Enrich your Lenten devotions and personal prayer with The Way of The Cross DVD. This program of reflective narration, images and music was originally produced in 1984 for use in parishes and schools as well as by individuals and groups. Print an order form.
The Maxims of the Little Institute DVD offers a photographic prayer of maxims written by Father Jean-Pierre Medaille, the Jesuit founder of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Print an order form.
