About Casa San José
Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 2013, Casa San José is a community resource center that advocates for and empowers Latinos by promoting integration and self-sufficiency.
The organization’s staff, which includes Sister Janice Vanderneck, Sister Valerie Zottola, and Sister Karen Stoila, and more than 80 active volunteers help provide health, legal and social service coordination, family and community support, and youth programming to Latino immigrants and refugees in the Pittsburgh area.
Casa San José works to ensure immigrants and other newcomers are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. The organization’s outreach programs promote civic engagement, educate Latinos about their legal rights, and provide mentorship opportunities for youth.
